28 June 2023

Yesterday, June 27th 2023, Linda Kenny announced to her colleagues her intent to retire as CEO of KidsAbility in the coming months.

In making her announcement, here is some of what Linda shared with the KidsAbility staff:

“I have such a depth of emotion about my time at KidsAbility. What l feel most is a gratitude and joy for the many moments that I was able to experience and share with you and with our families over the years. This is not a decision that I have made lightly, but please know that this is a decision that I have made because I believe it is what is right for KidsAbility and me at this point in our respective journeys. Over the past year or so, I have spent a great deal of time reflecting—reflecting on the needs of the organization but also my own needs and the needs of my family; and when I stood there at this crossroad, I knew that it was time.

This truly has been a beautiful journey for me. I have had the honour and privilege of working alongside one of the most talented, dedicated and professional teams that I could hope to be a part of. I have watched people come and go over the years. I have seen countless success stories made possible through the impact that all of you make in the lives of the children, youth and families we serve. I have witnessed tremendous creativity, resilience and fortitude in some of the most trying times we as a community, and as a sector, have ever faced. All of those moments are etched on my heart and I will carry them with me for the rest of my life. You have made such a profound and lasting impact on me and for that and so much more, I am grateful to each of you past and present.”

Elizabeth Witmer, Chair of the KidsAbility Board of Directors said “On behalf of the KidsAbility Board of Directors, I want to thank Linda for her leadership and impact over the last 10 years. She has led the organization through a remarkable period of growth and mission delivery and has charted a course for continued success for years to come. With the passion of our Board and an experienced leadership team in place, KidsAbility is poised for success during this transition and beyond.”

Over the next several months Linda will focus on ensuring a smooth and successful transition as the Board undertakes its search for KidsAbility’s next CEO. The specific timeframe for Linda’s retirement will be established as the recruitment process progresses.

While bidding farewell to Linda will be the end of another chapter in KidsAbility history, a bright future lies ahead.
