Kitchener, On – KidsAbility proudly announced the successful grand opening today of our expansive Kitchener relocation to continue our commitment to lead in providing pediatric therapy care for the next generation.

Funded entirely by community investment and support, the state-of-the art design at 4273 King St E Unit B. marks a pivotal time in transformative rehabilitation care for children and youth with disabilities. The expansion was completed both on time and on budget in early December 2023.

Prior to the relocation, KidsAbility Kitchener staff were split between two-floors at the former Hanson Ave. site, working against limited physical space. Now with 26,000 square feet of spacious treatment and therapy rooms, the building design aims to build collaboration amongst staff, and ensure a comforting and tranquil atmosphere where kids and families can thrive.

“Families can expect a welcoming, accessible and inclusive experience at KidsAbility Kitchener. Our new environment includes sensory-friendly spaces that support our teams to promote learning, movement, and growth. Kids can move freely and safely in a space designed just for them. In every element—from responsive lighting and calming colours to movable walls that allow flexibility to change and meet growing needs, we wanted to ensure clients would have the best possible rehabilitation care they need right in their own community.”

Delilah and her family admired the space-themed mural at KidsAbility Kitchener’s Grand Opening. The mural was a donation on behalf of Waterloo tech company D2L.

First arriving at KidsAbility when she was just 10 months old, six-year-old Delilah and her parents Jessica and Josh joined in the celebration and ribbon cutting.

“KidsAbility is a place where we’re understood and where my daughter is seen not because of her disability, but for the incredible little girl she is,” shared Jessica. “This new facility—it’s a dream come true. A place where children like Delilah can thrive and where parents like us can learn how to be the support that their kids need.”
