Managing My Emotions Kitchener - BSS Social Skills Group
To improve emotional regulation skills through:
- Behaviour Skills Training on topics (instruction, modelling, rehearsal, feedback)
- Prompting and reinforcement to teach priority goals each session
- Data collection to assess acquisition of priority goals
Group Goals:
- Identify self-calming tools and create a tool box of a variety of sensory supports and calming techniques
- Learn and identify a variety of thinking strategies, such as “size of the problem”, “inner critic/inner coach”, “STOP, OPT and GO”, “Rock Brain vs. SuperFlex”
- Practise self-regulation by utilizing tools (from any category) in situations where the child is experiencing Yellow, Blue or Red Zone emotions
Families will receive a summary of recommendations outlining the strategies developed through each week of group to continue to apply your learning in other settings. By registering for this group, you are committing to attending all session dates.
