Playtime Pals - Waterloo - BSS Social Skills Group
Playtime
Pals is designed to enhance early social skills through
routine, repetition, and peer interaction within a structured group learning
framework. Your child will have the opportunity to build and expand their
social skills with novel peers by practicing greetings, turn taking, sharing,
initiating play, following instructions and whole body listening. Lessons are
taught using modelling, role-play, group games/activities, stories and
interactive group discussions.
To
improve social and play skills through:
- Behaviour
Skills Training on weekly topics (instruction, modelling, rehearsal, feedback)
- Prompting
and reinforcement to teach priority goals each session
- Data
collection to assess acquisition of priority goals
Group
Goals:
- Greeting
peers
- Asking
a friend to play
- Taking
two turns with a peer using a simple turn-taking game
- Demonstrating
whole body listening in a group setting
- Following
two group instructions in routine situations
Families will receive a summary of recommendations outlining the
strategies developed through each week of group to continue to apply your
learning in other settings. By registering for this group, you are committing
to attending all session dates.
Dates:
4:30-6:30pm weekly on Wednesdays in Waterloo from April 19th – June 21st,
2023
