Active Start is designed to teach children with special needs the fundamental movement skills they need to enjoy an active lifestyle such as running, jumping, catching, throwing, kicking, striking, balancing, and body awareness.

FUNdamentals - Guelph, Kitchener & Waterloo

Designed to teach children with special needs the fundamental movement and sports skills needed to enjoy an active lifestyle. Target skills include: Improving the ABCs of movement including Agility, Balance, Coordination and Speed, while introducing several common sports. Children are introduced to the rules and tactics of sport through a variety of activities.

Special Olympics - Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph

Special Olympics offers a variety of sports programs for individuals who have a developmental disability. Local activities include bowling, swimming, basketball, floor hockey, track and field, curling, and more.

  • Status: Fall 2021 - Special Olympics Ontario is beginning their Return to Program plan. Visit your community's website for up to date information.

Sports for Special Athletes - Waterloo Region

Sports for Special Athletes (SSA) is a ‘grass-roots’, community-based sport and recreation organization. SSA endeavours to open new doors of integrated opportunities. Our programs are designed for people with special needs.
