Our Service Offerings

Our service offerings have been carefully designed to meet the unique needs of our families. Our team works closely with you to create a personalized plan to meet your child’s specific challenges and ensure they receive the support they need to thrive.

1:1 Applied Behaviour Analysis – Focused

Focused ABA targets specific skills or behaviors for intervention. It involves identifying one or a few specific behaviors or skills that need improvement and designing interventions to address those targets. This approach is often used when the individual has a limited number of target behaviors or skills that need improvement, or when there are specific areas of concern that require intensive intervention.

Eligibility: Children aged 0-9+ years. No specific diagnosis is required.

Locations: We offer services both at home or in the community (additional travel charges may apply) and at KidsAbility locations in Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener, or Waterloo.

Packages: Focused packages would include service from 2.5 – 6 hours/week. You can also combine 1:1 packages with group package offerings based on availability and suitability. Service recommendations will be made to determine the most appropriate duration that suits your child and their needs.

Step 1: Consultation with Goal Planning Specialists (GPS) Meet with a GPS to share your goals and determine appropriate therapy package.

Step 2: Quote Sent/Service Offered Once you have agreed on a package the GPS will send off your quote and proposed service schedule for your review.

Step 3: Clinical Orientation When you have agreed to the service schedule you will meet with the GPS/BCBA to review the service agreement, sign consents and contract and tour the center and meet the treatment team.

Step 4: Assessment and Treatment Planning The BCBA and Instructor Therapists assigned to your child will start to assess strengths and needs. Once assessment is completed you will meet with the BCBA to share priority goals and complete an Individualized Service Plan.

Step 5: Treatment The BCBA will provide clinical supervision to ensure your child is making progress on the goals outlined in the Individualized Service Plan. During treatment you will have ongoing meetings to review progress and ask questions.

1:1 Applied Behaviour Analysis – Comprehensive

Comprehensive ABA involves a more holistic approach to treatment. It addresses a wide range of skills and behaviors across multiple domains, such as communication, social skills, self-care, and academic skills. This approach typically involves a thorough assessment of the individual’s strengths and areas of need, followed by the development of an individualized treatment plan that targets multiple areas of development.

Eligibility: Children aged 0-9+ years. No specific diagnosis is required.

Locations: We offer services both at home or in the community (additional travel charges may apply) and at KidsAbility locations in Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener, or Waterloo.

Packages: Comprehensive packages would include service from 7.5 – 21 of hours/week. You can also combine 1:1 packages with group package offerings based on availability and suitability. Service recommendations will be made to determine the most appropriate duration that suits your child and their needs.

Caregiver Coaching

Caregiver coaching involves training and guiding caregivers in implementing behavioral strategies and interventions to support their child at home or in their natural environment. This coaching aims to empower caregivers with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote positive behavior change and skill development in their child.

Eligibility: Children aged 0-9+ years. No specific diagnosis is required.

Locations: We offer services both at home or in the community (additional travel charges may apply) and at KidsAbility locations in Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener, or Waterloo.

Packages: Caregiver coaching packages typically include once a week sessions, for 2 hours. Some evening availability. Families are required to purchase at least 6 weeks of service.

Group Based Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)

Our Group Behaviour Supports are designed to help children develop emotional regulation and communication skills in a fun and supportive environment. Our groups help your child take the skills learned and apply them to real-life situations with a variety of individuals (including peers and therapists).

Eligibility: To ensure the success of our Social Skills Group Programming, KidsAbility uses pre-group screenings to determine if a group learning environment is a good fit for your child. Pre-group screenings are free of charge and will include clinical recommendations for placement including recommendations for alternate service options, if appropriate.

Packages: Once a week for 2 hours/week for 10 or 12 weeks depending on term.

Step 1: Consultation with Goal Planning Specialists (GPS) Meet with a GPS to share your goals and determine eligibility for group based learning. If your child meets entry criteria, they will be invited to attend a pre-group screening. If you child does not meet the eligibility criteria, alternative service offerings will be recommended and explored.

Step 2: Child Attends Pre-Group Screener If eligible, your child will be invited to attend a free pre-group screening in which their group readiness skills will be assessed. Pre-Group screeners are 45 minutes in length and take place at one of our KidsAbility locations.

Step 3: Clinical Recommendations Based on observations by our Board Certified Behaviour Analysts, recommendations related to your child’s fit for group learning will be provided. Children deemed appropriate for group based learning will be provided further instructions in registering for group. Children who are not suitable for group based learning will be provided with alternative service recommendations, including referral to our focused or comprehensive 1:1 services.

Step 4: Clinical Orientation Once registered, the GPS or Board Certified Behaviour Analyst will reach out to confirm registration and orient you to KidsAbility services.

Step 5: Group Based Treatment The BCBA will provide clinical supervision to ensure your child is making progress on pre-selected goals.

While Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is most commonly used to support autistic individuals, there are benefits for any child regardless of diagnosis. The principles of ABA are designed such that interventions can be tailored to meet the needs of any learner. Packages are purchased through a consultation call with one of our Goal Planning Specialists. Our Goal Planning Specialists have years of clinical experiences that will help inform their service recommendations. In this call you will discuss the goals you have for your child and our specialists will make a service recommendation. These calls usually last approximately 30 minutes. Giving that each child has unique needs; we will work with you to build a plan that fits within your budget and goals for your child. More details about cost will be available during your consultation.

This service can be purchased using your Ontario Autism Program funding, out-of-pocket or other sources such as private insurance when available.

Option 1: Pay in Full

We accept various payment options, including e-transfers, cheques, and major credit cards.

Option 2: Pay in Installments

In collaboration with our Goal Planning Specialists, payment plans can be created to help support in the purchasing of service. Payment deadlines are communicated prior to service start.

KidsAbility currently does not offer services on weekends. However, we are pleased to offer a limited number of evening sessions. For information on current session availability, please contact our Goal Planning Specialists by booking a consultation.

Yes. All KidsAbility Behaviour Support Services are overseen by a Registered Behaviour Analyst which means they are eligible for reconciliation and reimbursement with the Ontario Autism Program.

Our team will provide receipts in a timely manner which will include all information needed to ensure reconciliation with the Ontario Autism Program.
