Resource Centre
Our Resource Centre
is now open again; we are looking forward to seeing you! There are over
5,000 resources (books, toys, games, devices) that are available through our
Resource Centre across sites to anyone in our community— if you are a
KidsAbility family or not. We also have therapeutic equipment such as walkers,
standers, wheelchairs, and more. In
order to borrow therapeutic equipment, please speak with your therapist who
would be happy to discuss that with you!
Drop-ins and browsing are not permitted at this
time. Thank you for your understanding!
We are currently limiting borrowing to the
borrowing options noted below:
- Families waiting to see a therapist (See Borrowing Process #1 Below)
- Families currently seeing a
therapist virtually (See Borrowing Process #1 Below)
- Families who are receiving
in-centre therapy (See Borrowing Process #2 Below)
- Anyone in our community – you do
not need to be a client of KidsAbility! (See Borrowing Process #1 Below)
Have any questions? Please call 519-886-8886 ext. 8000 or email rcentre@kidsability.ca
Borrowing Process
#1
(Only for families waiting to see a
therapist, currently seeing a therapist virtually, and anyone in our
community):
1) Review our
inventory of resources (search by keywords)
*All of our materials are searchable in the database by using keywords, titles, and authors. Some examples include: toys, games, toileting, behaviour, speech, sensory, autism, parenting, articulation, DVDs, fine motor, gross motor, cause and effect, and even titles of books such as: It Takes Two To Talk, More Than Words (and much more!)
2) Once you know which resource(s) you would like to borrow, please call 519-886-8886 x0 or email
rcentre@kidsability.ca and let us know which site (Guelph, Kitchener, Cambridge, Waterloo) you would like to pick up the resource(s). Please wait for a confirmation date and time to pick up the resource(s). You can borrow up to 4 resource(s) at a time and they are due back in 2 weeks. Membership forms are at reception for you to fill out. Please show reception a government-issued ID to confirm membership.
3) If you would like to borrow more resource(s) when you return the resource(s), please let us know ahead of time so we can arrange the pick up. Alternatively, you can use the Family Resource Computer in the lobby (instructions are posted) to browse for materials! Our Customer Service Representatives will be happy to help you. If you are using the family resource computer, you will need to go through screening questions and sign in when you come in and sign out when you leave.
Borrowing Process
#2
(Families who are receiving in-centre therapy):
Your therapist or reception can help you with
borrowing materials when you are on site. Reception has copies of the
membership form for you to complete. All resource(s) borrowed will need to be
signed in and returned to the front desk. Our Customer Service Representatives
will be happy to help you with this.
PLEASE NOTE: The Resource Centre is not staffed by therapists. Families are welcome to access any materials they wish from the Resource Centre except for therapeutic equipment. For therapeutic equipment such as walkers, bikes, sledges, wheelchairs, etc., please consult with your therapist. By searching our database, you will be able to view materials (descriptions, etc.) that are available and decide if you would like to proceed with borrowing. If you have any questions about the materials you are borrowing as it relates to your child’s development/therapy, please write these questions down and bring them to your appointment with a therapist. Your therapist will be happy to assist you with that!
Cleaning Protocol
KidsAbility upholds the highest standard of cleaning practices as mandated through Public Health, our Exemplary Standing with Accreditation Canada and we use hospital-grade disinfectants in the cleaning of our sites, toys and equipment which have been approved by Health Canada. Please email

Donations
We gratefully accept donations of new and gently used books, games and multi-media materials for our Resource Centres. Please email
rcentre@kidsability.ca with a picture of the items you wish to donate. If you have therapeutic equipment that you wish to donate, please refer to
KidsAbility’s Equipment Donation information.
For any additional questions you may have email rcentre@kidsability.ca. We hope you enjoy the materials you borrow!
